He just loves to tell me things

There are many such things, thinks he

He explains, he clarifies, he informs me

He teaches and preaches

Provides me with all this information

Whether I like it or not

He clearly does

 

Around 60 percent of the things he tells me

are actually things that I already know

But I don’t say anything

'cause I know he enjoys

the sound of his voice

So I just smile and pretend I’m amazed

Which in fact I am

Just not for the reason that he thinks

 

I’d say probably half of the things he tells me

he’s really kinda misunderstood

But I don’t try to correct him

'cause that would affect him

Besides, he would never admit to be wrong

So I play along

 

Only 7 percent of the things he tells me

are honest and true and come straight from the heart

About how he feels

What makes him happy

What makes him cry

In fact, these are the only things he really knows

and yet the things he’d rather not talk about
